In 1947 we took our first steps by founding Balay in Zaragoza. Esteban Bayona and José María Lairla were the two entrepreneurs who joined their ideas and their surnames to put themselves at the head of four employees. It began to manufacture electrical materials such as elevators, reducers or voltmeters. Two years later the first change of venue came. There he started manufacturing ballasts for fluorescent tubes. The work increased and the workforce also increased to 17 employees. Time has passed and in the 90’s we began to take our commitment to the environment much more seriously.

In 1990 we became the first brand in Spain that eliminated CFC gases from its cold appliances. In Balay we have also managed to manufacture the cleaners and washing machines that consume less water in the world. For reasons like this, we were present at the International Expo Zaragoza in 2008, which focused on water and sustainable development. In 2012, our washer with drying function came out, a new appliance capable of doing both processes without interruption and saving 50 liters of water per cycle. Currently, Balay already has more than 4,000 employees and owns five factories in Spain.
